Hello again from sunny Spain!
It’s so good to be home! Don’t get me wrong, holidays are wonderful and it’s been great seeing family and friends back in the UK but.. 2 months! Everything always seems to come at once for us so, in the tradition of not doing things by halves we decided to combine our trip to Florida and Mexico with the need to go back to England to sort a few things out (and have Basil, our dog looked after while we were away!). Needless to say, everything didn’t go as planned and 6 weeks turned into 9 weeks. Oh well!
Anyway, the holiday – we flew into Miami and did the whole sightseeing thing with a boat trip to see the Millionaires houses and bus ride around south Beach where there are lots of beautiful art deco hotels as well as very skinny, scantily clad people and beefy Miami Beach policemen! All lovely to look at but boy, is it expensive there! If you go to Miami, one place to wow you is the graffiti art in Wynwood, particularly Wynwood Walls. Absolutely fantastic. From there we drove to Cape Canaveral where Richard indulged his inner child with a trip to the Kennedy Space Centre. Great place full of information and artefacts about our space exploration history and where you get up close to a real Space Shuttle!!

Then to Mexico – wow! The ruins at Chichen Itza really are a sight to be seen and the night-time light show on the main pyramid was spectacular. The people in Mexico were friendly and our (still fairly basic) knowledge of Spanish helped a lot, both in Mexico and Miami. One of our highlights in Mexico was visiting Playa Sonrisa – a naturist B&B in Xcalak on the Caribbean coast of Mexico near the Belize border. The picture above doesn’t do it justice – white sand, palm trees and pelicans. Nothing much to do but sit naked in a hammock and read a book or watch the pterodactyl-like birds fishing. Bliss!
Back in the Uk and following a round of family visits we stopped off at Clover Naturist Spa and Hotel in Birmingham for a couple of nights. The owner, Tim, had been to visit us last year and it was great to see him again and enjoy the facilities at Clover Spa. It’s a very different offer to what we have here at Finca Xanadu as it is very much based around the spa with a great selection of massages and treatments on offer so if you are looking for a naturist spa experience in that part of the world then give it a try. Hotel rooms were comfortable and the food was good too.
So back to Spain and the garden was looking a bit parched when we returned home. They’ve had a very dry winter…until we got here! For once our friends thanked us for bringing some typically English weather as we had 2 days of gentle, constant rain to replenish the ground. Hopefully this means a good display of spring flowers to come. Now our work begins to get the place looking gorgeous for our first guests of the season in May. The boules court is being created as I write and work is ongoing on the garden and some painting is also on the list. New sun loungers have been purchased and a Bali bed for those who like extreme comfort is ready to be installed.
Don’t forget the new Murcia International Airport opened in January. It is less than an hour from us so getting here will be even easier in 2019. We can organise transfers if you prefer not to hire a car.
However you get here, we would love to welcome you to Finca Xanadu this year. Drop us a line and book your Finca Xanadu holiday now.
