Hello again Xanadu-ers!
So, a new year and a new decade – how time flies! It feels like not so long ago it was the year 2000 and everyone was worried about planes falling from the sky and computers stopping working…now we’re 20 years on and now it’s the environment and climate change, plastic contaminating our oceans and viruses coming from Asia. Much as we do care and try to do our bit, here in the mountains we are a bit isolated from the troubles of the world. At this time of year we just have to worry about the wind mostly. Just before xmas we said goodbye to a couple of trees and our kitchen chimney – mind you, they were particularly strong winds and luckily the fire wasn’t lit at the time! Hopefully I can tag a few changes in the kitchen onto the work needed on the roof…J The Almond blossom is out now so we’re hoping the wind doesn’t return and we can enjoy their beauty for a long while. Luckily for us and our guests the wind in summer is more of a warm, gentle breeze…
We’ve just got back from a trip to England and Scotland and also spent a few days in Budapest. What a lovely city! There is so much history and culture to be explored as well as the thermal baths (costumes required – unfortunately!) and the lovely sights from the Danube at night. If you haven’t been there we highly recommend it. The weather here at the moment is glorious. This week – first week in February – we were sitting outside drinking coffee in over 20 degrees of wonderful sunshine – at 8.45 in the morning!! No excuse for not getting out in the garden and tidying up the terraces ready for some new plants in the spring, although the evenings are cold of course.
So now it’s time to get on with preparations for this summer and while we are waiting for the builder to get around to repairing the chimney it’s time to do lots of indoor things such as revise the website. So, finally, we’ve put some new pictures on the website and added all the old newsletters for anyone who wants to look back at them. I hope you like what you see…and tell your friends or (nice) people you meet on your naturist travels to take a look.
We are taking bookings for the summer now and it’s starting to look like this will be our best year yet. Lots of guests are returning to enjoy Finca Xanadu again this year and the pressure is on to continue to provide a fantastic experience for our guests. I’m busy trying out recipes for some new dishes on Richard and some of our friends. No-one has complained so far about their roles as guinea pigs! I am trying to introduce some lighter, healthier meals as I know some have mentioned how tight their clothes are (when they eventually have to put some on lolJ). We always ask about dietary needs and preferences before our guests arrive so please don’t hesitate to ask if there is something special you would like or foods to avoid. It is such an important part of your holiday and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Hope to see you soon!
Gina & Richard xx
